About MaKupsy

My name is Mercy and I am a woman of many talents.  I have two alter egos; MaKupsy and Fitness Bae.  These personas have brought out different titles in my life namely;  The Blogger. The Online Run Coach. The Traveler. The Naturalista. The Social Media Influencer. The Mother.

Motherhood is the biggest part of my life. I have a beautiful daughter Miss Kupsy (Kupakwashe).  She is the love of my life.  She is a ray of sunshine and a double dose of happiness.  She is actually part of the reason I decided to start blogging along with many other reasons.  I hope one day she will read through this and get to see some of the things that happened in my 20’s going forward.  I am positive blogging is going to be a lot of fun.

My blog name is a combination of the word Amai(mother) but shortcut for Amai is Ma combined with my daughter’s nickname Kupsy, hence MaKupsy.  My blog is not set in stone, it is a kaleidoscope of articles and you will definitely find something that will capture your eye.

Blogging has presented different opportunities for me in the past few months.

Appearances and Interviews

ZiFM Stereo

July 2017: I was invited for an interview by ZiFM Stereo; the hottest station in Zimbabwe!  I was live on air from 6-7am during the Breakfast Show hosted by MisRed, Captain Awesome and Marc Poz.  ZiFM is the first private radio station in Zimbabwe, targeting a modern, progressive aspirational listener.  You can watch part of the radio interview from here.

October 2017: #BlogIndaba

After a successful completion of a 30 Day Blogging challenge in September participants agreed to carry on with the group and identify as BlogIndaba.  Blogging encompasses written, video and audio.  BlogIndaba is a meeting place. We want to foster a meeting of the minds with the aim of improving blogs (and hopefully the world while we’re at it). The word indaba means ;
1 news
2 problem or concern
3 discussion or conference

These 3 definitions capture the entirety of the purpose of this group.  Watch out for our work on social media platforms using the hash tag #BlogIndaba.

September 2017: Initiated the #30DayAfriBlogger Challenge to bring progressive; like-minded African Bloggers, Vloggers and Creatives to help nurture their skills, technique and elements of their work. This initiative has started of with blogging a post a day in the month of September and will progress into something bigger and louder to bring African Bloggers together to share their stories and give their country a voice.

September 2017: Currently hosting the very first and only Harare Park Runs.

June 2017 to date: Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe

I was one of the 8 chosen influencers in the country to host a national Golden Pilsener Campaign termed #GoldenPilsenerGo4Gold which has been running for the past 3 months.  It has been a huge promotion and my role has been to encourage the community to exercise and enjoy the finest beer.  You can check out part of the video footage challenge from here.

August 2017: UnPlugged Zimbabwe

large_UNPLUGGED 200by120.jpg

Partnered with UnPlugged Zimbabwe as their Resident Blogger to write monthly articles on different themes related to the event.  UnPlugged Zimbabwe is a the only blanket, wine and music event in the country which was established in December 2014.  It has grown from having 150 people attend on the first event to 2300 on the last show held last month.  MaKupsy is the go to blog when you need event information for all things UnPlugged Zimbabwe.

September 2017: Steward Health

Partnered with Steward Health to share the same vision of promoting good health through the only weekly Harare park runs.  This event has seen non runners going from jogging 100m to completing a 3K run in just under 25 minutes.  Steward Health is a major partner in the Harare ParkRun events.

  1. Hello Hottie! Thank you for visiting my blog and following. I can totally relate to having so much to say, while friends struggle to keep up. Writing a blog is the perfect way to express all the things we want to without feeling like we’re talking too much. Everyone is talking about something in the blogging world and you are in good company.. I am now following you and can’t wait to see where your journey takes you. Let the talking begin! 🙂

  2. Thank you for following back Sylvia. This is still very new to me but I trust it is going to be one very interesting new hobby. I look forward to reading more of your posts and who knows I might learn to write a poem or two while I am at it…
